Speaker’s welcome

Welcome to our website of the Maneaba Ni Maungatabu (Kiribati House of Assembly). This website is framed to be a useful resource to those who are interested in the works of our Maneaba Ni Maungatabu. I hope that you will find it a useful resource with helpful and relevant information about our Maneaba Ni Maungatabu and how it is run on a day to day basis.

We pride ourselves in the works of our Maneaba Ni Maungatabu and we are even more proud in knowing that our Maneaba Ni Maungatabu (House of Assembly) is one of the most stable parliaments in the Pacific.

We have performed well since we attained independence from Britain thirty-one years ago on the 12th July, 1979. Since then we feel that we have matured as a democratically elected parliament doing our jop both as leaders and as representatives of all the people of Kiribati. We feel very proud and honoured to be given this great responsibility by our people and we sincerely hope that in whatever we do as parliamentarians we must always remember that it is our great responsibility to try and map out the future of our nation and our fellow citizens so that they can live a better life in freedom.

It is my hope that by browsing through what we have managed to put into this website you will find it interesting and educative and should you feel that there is something that we have forgotten to include which will enhance the value of our presentation please feel free to let us know and we will try our best to oblige.

I give you our traditional blessing of Te Mauri, Te Raoi ao Te Tabomoa.

Thank You.

Hon. Taomati Iuta

Speaker ( Parliament of Kiribati)
